Everything here is hanging by a thread.

At Tej Macrame Studio, we create wall hangings, curtains and custom pieces by hand, with love.

Tej Macramé Wall Hanging: three knotted wall hangings on wooden arches above the Tej wordmark
A small studio, working slowly

Everything here is tied by hand, one knot at a time, until the string finally does what it's told.

Made with quality yarns

We knot with soft, durable cotton, picked for how crisply it holds a knot and how it hangs. Combed out at the ends, it settles into a fringe that keeps its shape.

From sketch to wall

  1. Design and sketch

We sketch the piece to size for your wall, and settle the shape, colours and drop before anything is cut.

    Step 01
  2. Source and shape

Yarn is chosen for the colourway, and the wooden arch or dowel is cut, shaped and sanded.

    Step 02
  3. Build by hand

Every cord is mounted and knotted by hand, row by row, then combed out and trimmed to shape.

    Step 03
  4. Pack and deliver

The finished piece is wrapped, boxed and sent out ready to hang.

    Step 04

Have a wall, a window or a corner in mind?

Tell us the size, the colours you like and where it will hang. We'll reply with a sketch and a quote before any cord is cut.

Questions we get asked

Anything else — email the studio

Dust it now and then with a soft brush, or a vacuum on its lowest setting with the upholstery head. For a mark, spot-clean with a damp cloth and a little mild soap, then let it dry fully before it goes back up. Don't machine wash or wring cotton macramé — it loses its shape and won't come back.

Two weeks, from the day we agree the sketch.

Yes, worldwide. Shipping is charged on top of the piece, and the cost depends on where it's going and which courier carries it. Every piece is wrapped and boxed before it leaves the studio.

Yes. Anywhere on Lagos Island the visit is on us. If the order is then abandoned, we ask you to cover the cost of that visit. Otherwise, send photos of the wall with something in frame for scale, and we'll size the piece from those.

Yes to custom work, and yes to an NDA when the design is your own. Where a commission comes from a public reference — something found on Pinterest or Instagram that you don't own — we don't treat it as proprietary, so we don't sign an NDA for it.
